Day 13

elenikonst

There's nothing fundamentally wrong or right about the way you move. Everything you do has served a purpose at some point, whether that purpose is still relevant or not. Every movement you do will reflect your current state of mind, and every thought will somehow find its way to your body. By being in a curious and explorative state of mind, you open up the possibility to do things differently than usual. Choose a theme from a previous day, stay curious, and see what happens.

📖 During and after Alexander sessions, I find myself in a very playful, explorative state. The mind/body adjusts to any movement and challenge better when in that state. And vice versa, when looking for more options and novelty in movement, my brain wakes up and seeks exploration and creativity in general. Self-criticism and right answers become somewhat irrelevant.

10 minutes of mindful movement a day 🍂

For the month of October I will be posting a different thought/theme each day to bring some Alexander inspired mindfulness into daily activities.

To follow along, simply

🚴 Choose an activity. It can be the same one or different each day

(the more inconsequential and boring the better)

🔍 Use the activity as an opportunity to explore the theme

📖 Take note of anything interesting (I will be sharing some of my own notes/observations as I follow the themes too)

If you have any questions, thoughts, observations, disbeliefs, challenges, I would genuinely love to discuss it, so feel free to reach out.

Disclaimers:

1. These are some thoughts I have found helpful during my Alexander journey. They are definitely not all the technique is or has to offer.

2. ⚠ Health and Safety ⚠

Don't choose an activity that requires you to handle a vehicle or sharp object, or can put you or others in danger.
